Watfiv.s : Fundamentals and Style
Fortran was the first major higher level programming language and is the most widely used programming language for scientific and engineering purpose. Fortran structures and constructs permeate almost all major programming languages. It is perhaps the most stable and portable programming language available, and Fortran programs can be run on almost any computer. Fortran evolved according to the needs of its users, with major revisions of the Fortran standard in 1966 and 1977. The current standard Fortran includes the features deemed both desirable and practical by a large committee of users and computer manufacturers, working under the aegis of the American National Standards organization. rnWatfiv-s is the latest in a series of Fortran implementations provided by the University of Waterloo, the first of which WATFOR (Waterloo Fortran). It is written to provide an excellent environment for student learning to use the Fortran programming language.rnWatfiv-s fundamentals and style is an outstanding introduction to Fortran programming. The book emphasizes problem solving techniques and structured programming concepts. Fully developed case studies throughout the text relate key concepts to a real programming environment.rnReaders of Watfiv-s fundamentals and style are exposed to exemplary Fortran code, and find over 150 complete programs with superior internal documentation. Numerous aids in every chapter make the text reader friendly:" section previews
