Implementing the Electrical Safety Program
The electrical safety program book (NFPA, 2013) recommends that an employer assemble and maintain a master book containing the published content of the electrical safety program. By special request, this implementing this implementing the electrical safety program supplement was written to provide a sample of that master book. Each section included in this template should be a tab in the master book.rnThe purpose of this supplement is to serve as an illustration only. A word of caution, the electrical safety program will be less than successful until the content of the program is written, published, and discussed and employees trained to implement the requirements of the program.rnThis supplement is not intended to be a fill in the blank electrical safety program. Users must understand that only a program containing requirements defined by workers and supervisors engaged in the business of the employer can minimize exposure to electrical hazards. This supplements is intendedto help guide program definition, not to define requirements. This book can be used as a guide for a company to complete its own program, tailored to its own needs. The sections are designed to lead users through all areas of a program and uncover questions that help address specific needs in the company.rnEach section of this supplement contains forms and checlists that may be used to guide the discussion necessary to generate an electrical safety program. The sample forms and checklists may not address all potential exposure to hazards. Only by discussing work tasks and deriving adequate plans will hazard/risk analysis be complete.rnAs an additional aid to the user, this book is packaged with a CD containing the blank templates of the forms and checklists.
